Panini London 2012 Sticker PacketThe Panini London 2012 Official Sticker Collection came out in June of 2012, barely 40 days before the start of the XXX Olympiad. With over 200 nations qualifying in over 300 events, we were keen to see what approach Panini would take to squeeze all this into one sticker album.

As it turns out, it's not so hard! The album is compact organised and pleasant to look at. The inside front cover shows the contents list for the London 2012 Sticker Collection, with an introductory paragraph on the first page, framing the mascots and the first two of 459 stickers in the album itself. The first two stickers are the Olympic Emblem and the Paralympic Emblem. Over the page, and we're introduced to a "London 2012 by numbers" feature, showing stickers representing a number of very interesting statistics and facts about the event. 12 stickers in total here, then the album moves on to the first of the events.

Panini London 2012 Sticker Back No.33

The album works alphabetically through a selection of the events, allocating a page to each event and sometimes two. Each event shows a cut shape sticker of the sport, a shiny half-sticker logo of the sport and stickers of a lucky few from the GB team.  There are also 'International' stickers showing ones to watch from other countries and a Paralympic competitor is also represented for most of the sports. Here and there you'll see some of the athletes are given the honour of a shiny sticker, such as Usain Bolt in the Athletics pages.

At the centre of the album is a Venues feature, with cut-shape stickers to complete photographs of the various arenas and stadia. Also at the centre is the pull-out poster, which features stickers of all the athletes and competitors that Panini have dubbed as 'red hot favourites'. The last 4 pages of the album look back of the milestones leading up the 30th Olympiad, from winning the bid, to construction of the stadium through to tickets going on sale.
