"It is with great pleasure that I introduce Merlin’s latest F.A. Premier League sticker collection – the only official sticker collection of the F.A. Premier League.

Having enjoyed a thrilling start to the new campaign, I’m sure you’ll agree that the 2001/2002 season looks likely to be the most exciting yet. Not only have fans been treated to the glittering skills of such superstar signings such as Juan Sebastian Veron and Giovanni Van Brochkhurst, but the continued growth of the Premiership’s home-grown talents, like David Beckham, Sol Campbell and Steven Gerrard, has been a delight to watch too. With standards improving at every level throughout domestic football, from the impressive youth academies to the first teams, it is no surprise that the F.A. Premier League is considered among the best leagues in the world.

Just as the F.A. Premier League continues to improve so do Merlin’s wonderful series of accompanying sticker collections and the latest edition is no exception. As you’d expect from a Merlin collection it is crammed with all the biggest stars, the most in-depth statistics and state-of-the-art design. This year there’s also a very exciting change to look out for. For the first time ever each player portrait sticker features a genuine facsimile of their autograph – that’s 360 superstar player signatures in total.

For football fans everywhere, there is no better way to follow the F.A. Premier League than with Merlin’s 2002 sticker collection. So, no matter which team you support, good luck for the season ahead and enjoy the new collection."

- Richard Scudamore, Chief Executive of The F.A. Premier League

Merlin Premier League 2002 Sticker PacketThankfully we see a shiny version of the F.A. Premier League Badge and the F.A. Premier League Trophy, after the 2001 edition decided not to make them shinys! We love the shinys here at StickerSwapping! As Richard Scudamore, Chief Executive of The F.A. Premier League states in his foreword, the Merlin’s Official F.A. Premier League 2002 Sticker Collection is the very first ‘Autography Edition’. Each player sticker includes a silver signature scrawled across their chest, each club captain has the honour of having a gold signature.

No surprises in this edition – Arsenal are first club we see. The teams are each allocated 4 pages, the first page shows the club badge shiny, and team photo stickers, as well as a stack of stats and information about the club including historic performance in the league, last season’s goal scorers and a manager bio.

Premier League 2002 No.24The following 3 pages each display 6 squad member football stickers, with each sticker space surrounded by details on the respective player. Shirt numbers are shown on top of the player’s career summary, and the previous season’s analysis. The player’s vital stats are directly below the sticker.

At the centre of the album ‘Merlin’s Skill Zone’ picks out 4 premier league stars for their skills, with a glitter sticker a-piece. Then each club is allocated a large sticker (some are shinys), with the club’s full fixture list and spaces to fill in each of the scores. The centre also contains stickers W1-W80 which are small square stickers for 4 players from each team. This is the ‘F.A. Premier League Super Stars’ section, and these stickers were to be found in packets of Walkers crisps.
