Merlin Team 90 Sticker PacketAs it says in the opening statement from Merlin, this is their first ever football sticker collection. The rumour is that several ex-Panini employees started Merlin after Panini was bought out by the Maxwell corporation... allegedly! How true this is we cannot be sure, but it is certainly fair to say that those four guys went on to great things! The Merlin Team 90 Football Sticker Album uses its opening page to discuss all the new features and ideas that the new football sticker album promises to deliver. These primarily include 'Videofliks', which isn't as exciting as it sounds - flipbooks on the corners of the album showing some famous scenes from the past league.

Merlin Team 90 No.273The football sticker book begins proper over the page with Arsenal, laid out pretty neatly on a grid background. The shiny badge (still referred to as a 'foil', a Panini leftover!) sits at the top left, with some club info and history to the top right. Below are 15 player's football stickers (including the manager sticker), with brief bios to the left hand side of the page. The right hand column contains fixture table for owners to fill in the scores from the 1989-1990 season. Also included is a 'Transfer Desk' sticker space - Merlin suggest that collectors use this space to player any 'doubles' from other clubs for players who have transferred after the album went to press. DIY transfer updates.

The album contains no special features pages, excepting the 'First Class in the Second Division' page that divides the Division one from the Scottish Premier Division, simply showing some photographs from last years Division 2. There is also a small paragraph on the last page discussing England, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland all appearing at the 1990 Italy World Cup.
