This 2009 album is the first UK domestic league sticker album to be produced by Panini since the 'Super Players 98' collection. Whilst they continued with the World Cup, Euros and Champions League product lines, there was a long pause on the English Football leagues in light of the success Merlin had seen with their Premier League range, and the mediocre performance of the alternative Panini albums from 1994-1998 - which were somewhat overshadowed by Merlin.
Panini open the Coca Cola Championship 2009 Official Sticker Collection with a contents list on the inside cover showing all the teams from the Championship with their badges. The facing page contains an introduction paragraph describing what awaits you inside the album along with the first two stickers - a Coca Cola Championship logo and the Championship Trophy. Barnsley are the first team to appear over the page. Each club is arranged with a shiny club logo, stadium sticker, shiny kit sticker and 4 star player football stickers. This, along with a few key stats and a photograph of the manager takes up the first page of a double-spread per team. The facing page contains a two-part captain sticker, a team photograph with squad list and the squad's football stickers. All of the players are split to half-sized stickers, meaning that an impressive 13 football stickers are squeezed into the remaining space on the page.
The centre pages of the Panini Coca Cola Championship 2009 Official Sticker Collection contain a fixture list for the season, and a special 'Championship Conundrums!' feature. This shows some spot-the-difference, and guess the player type games, along with stickers to fill in the gaps.
Did you know...?
- Despite the majority of the football stickers in the album being half-sized with two player stickers to a sticker back, each individual sticker is till given its own number. Most Panini albums would allocate the stickers as A and B or just use the same number for both parts.
