As well as an introductory paragraph more packed with bad puns than one of Gary Lineker's goodbyes on Match of the Day, the Panini English Football 1992 football sticker album also features an opening statement from Graham Taylor! He reveals he's also been a big football sticker collector since his childhood. This edition of the Football series from Panini is the first to feature 'English' in the title. Our guess is that this is because, having made the stickers themselves a lot larger that previous collections, they had no room for any Scottish clubs!
Once you're past all the bad jokes on the opening pages, the album jumps straight in to football stickers with Arsenal leading the way, as is often the case. Each club gets a double-spread with 11 player stickers spread across the two pages. There is no additional statistics or biographies here, just the footballs stickers, showing the players in action. In additional the 11 players, there's also a section set aside for the club captain to the top left. The captain gets the addition of a "Captain's Comment", which is in most cases a few lines talking about the team and his team mates.
The album continues alphabetically through the club in the First Division, before sparing two pages at the end for "Twelve of the Best from the Second Division". Here we see the football sticker, plus a brief biography below each one justifying their inclusion in this section of the album.
Did you know...?
- Panini English Football 1992 is the only album in the 'Football' series so far from Panini to stipulate in its title that it is English!
- This was the last football sticker album to feature the old division structure, before the Premier League arrived in 1993.
