1980 was the first year that Panini brought out a European Championship football sticker album. The Panini Europa 80 Sticker album followed on the heels of success for Panini in 70, 74 and 78 with their World Cup collections and also on 3 years of the Panini Football Sticker Albums. It appears very similar to the early World Cup albums, with the first page looking at the album contents, and a European map showing all the tournament competitors. The Europa 80 album then looks back to 1960 when the first championship was played, and shows a couple of stickers from each year - one for the winning team and a second for a key player in those finals. The tournament Programme page also features 5 stickers - the trophy, logo and mascot sticker among them, the facing page is stickers of the cities and stadiums hosting the 1980 European Championships.
Germany (Deutschland-BRD) are the first national team's football stickers that we come to, as they are hosting. Each team gets a shiny badge sticker, a two part team photo sticker and 12 squad football sticker plus the manager. These are each laid out on a small individual backdrop which contains the vital stats for that player. Most teams also get a third page with an additional 7 players.
The rear of the album contains several pages of what it calls "excluded nations", those national teams that failed to qualify for the finals. These are arranged two to a page, with the badge shiny, team photo and just four or five player football stickers.
